Counseling Intern

Hi! I’m Michelle! I am a child, adolescent, and family therapy intern completing my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I specialize in working with children ages 3 to 13. I have over 14 years experience working with children in a variety of educational settings, preschool through middle school. My experiences teaching Kindergarten and 4th grade have especially equipped me with skills to help serve children struggling with school-related issues, ADHD, and developmental disabilities. I also lived overseas for many years and am passionate about working with multicultural populations, children in foster care, and children who have been adopted. My past experiences have also led me to have a passion for working with children and families who have experienced trauma and grief.

In my therapy room I seek to create a safe and trusting counseling relationship with both the child and the caregivers. I am passionate about play therapy and utilizing play and art interventions to help teach coping skills to children. You will find that I also draw on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and attachment skills to help improve child and family mental health. I know that every child and family is unique and I am comfortable adjusting my approaches based on the child's developmental age and the family's specific needs.

As an intern I receive regular supervision from child and adolescent therapists including a registered play therapist (RPT). I work on a team of phenomenal therapists who are experts in the field of child, adolescent, and family therapy. I assure you that you and your child will be receiving a high level of quality care. To make therapy affordable and to meet the needs of the community I charge an intern rate between $20-$60 per session. I also am happy to provide after-school appointment times. I look forward to partnering with you and your child!
